I am having a pelvic exam to see if the baby has in fact turned. Does this hurt and how bad? Is it much worse than a regular pap smear?

No. Honestly when they poke around it almost makes you feel like you have to pee. Don't worry. All women go to them, none like them, but we all survive. If you have a good doctor, she/he will explain everything and you will feel comfortable (well as comfortable as you can laying naked on a table)

No, I had the same exam done when I was 8 months pregnant. It is no worse than a pap smear, though you may feel some pressure (totally painless) because of the baby.

The only time I have ever had pelvic exams that hurt were during labor. But that was probably due to the contractions..lol.

The swab that they do does hurt a little and can make soem women cramp. Pelvics are jsut uncomfotable, so remember to relax. Dont tense up ur muscles. I hate getting them too.

I hate them!
They hurt if you tighten up and they are easy breezy if you relax and breathe and just allow them to do what they do. If it is fingers, it is not so bad, but if it is that monster metal contraption that must have been invented by one of Hitlers many physicians... or by that Evil crazy ***** that invented the IUD? Then they just suck no matter what really.
Ever been skin pinched with one of the old fashoned metal ones? UGH! That just sux!

It doesn't hurt...Its a little uncomfortable...you might want to get used to it...wehn you are in labour it will seem like everybody and their dog has had a feel up there...Just try and relax when they tell ou to.

i heard it is painful is they try and turn the baby in there but i would assume it would only be uncomfortable......good luck

not really. alittle when they do the cervix swob. it gives you cramps. you dont have to worry.
