For some reason people feel getting points for themselves is more important then helping people. I like reading the questions to see what problems people are having. There are quite a few answers here where I have learned some things. what bothers me more are the questions that are asked with little or not detail. it prompts more bogus answers when you have no information about the problem.

For a variety of reasons:

Some people just want to accumulate more points, possibly so they can ask their questions.
Others might think that they have the right answer, and so they provide it without checking its accuracy.
Some people are malicious enough to actually provide answers that can do some damage, or at least confuse other people as to how they can really solve the problem.
Some people are just tired of having the same question asked 30 times.

Unfortunately, there is no real quality control in place, and no way to know whether the other people are qualified/ knowledgeable enough to really be answering the question in the first place.

Because half of the people here are either students, housewives or unemployed.

Bear in mind that as you're paying NOTHING for the answers, you are going to be answered by those who are used to being paid nothing - which is precisely all of the above.

Good question. And it'll be coming up a lot more often, thankfully.

Because:

1. Questions are not always asked to be comprehensive.

2. People do not know the answer but they answer anyway so they get 2 points.

3. Sometimes person who had asked the question dont understand the answer so they think it is stupid.

People aren't the brightest in the bunch. Usually you get a least a few good answers. Yahoo needs to crack down on the spammers like you to stop them from posting junk questions in here and reserve them for real problems.

Most likely because half the questions are halfassed. The truely serious questions usually get a high percentage of real helpful answers. Just like this one.

Because...everyone in this world is greedy. Anyone who is answering to the question is either A) answering because they know what the answer is or B) answering because they want that 2 extra points. And I think in most cases, the answer is always B.

Because half the questions are stupid or have been asked before...

However, I have seen peopel give answers that are simply a letter, like,

N

Tose types of people are looking to just increase their points.

Because they think they're "clever". They wouldn't feel that way if they had a computer problem and wanted genuine advice and help. It comes to those who wait, they'll soon learn when they only get stupid responses yet are panicking to get a sensible answer to their problem.

Because most of the people who answer only want a couple of points into their profiles, without actually putting any thought into it.
