Few things: 1. Unlike Iraq, which was in violation of numerous UN resolutions that threatened use of force, at this time, no such resolutions are in place against N. Korea. 2. The N. Korean army has over 1 million active and some 6 million reserves. They also have several highly trained divisions that would give the best the US has to offer a run for their money...especially considering the fighting would be on their turf. 3. As much as China has expressed condemnation of the tests, unless China, and to a lesser degree, Russia signs on to military action, we would run the risk of those nations coming in on the wrong side. 4. The countries likely to suffer the most damage, S. Korea and Japan, are not prepared to accept tens of thousands of civilian casualties. Remember Seoul is only 40 miles south of the border.
Any military action against N. Korea would result in far too much damage to our allies than anyone is ready to risk. Any such action must be a coordinated effort with Russia, China, ROK, Japan, and Taiwan...at the very least.

The whole point of this matter is that the rest of the world knows that the big powerful brave bully known as the USA only attacks countries which do NOT have weapons of mass destruction such as Iraq, Afganistan, Grenada, Vietnam etc.
There is absolutely no way the USA will attack Pakistan (we all know who is hiding there), nor Britain, France, India, Israel, Russia , China etc.
Now North Korea has now joined the list of countries which are safe from attack (as long as the USA can be sure it really was a nuclear explosion which was detected).
North Korea has been very scared of attack from USA since GW's ranting and raving and making threats and it has made enormous sacrifices to make this great achievement which is astonishing for such a backward country.

Very Good question! We can't risk the incursion due to diplomatic restraints with regional instability. Iraq was a necessary action. We sold him VX nerve gas in the 80's so we know they had WMD's. But our fixation with Iraq is more than what most idiots think, we need a larger military presence in that region because of Iran, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Turkey, and Israel. That is our motivation for the Iraq occupation. It is our goal to police the globe. But don't blame Americans. It is the United States government, at the behest of NATO, and they are pulling the strings, we are a puppet, and most people are to blind to see it. But still an EXCELLENT question!!

Decisive action is always better than reaction. Now is not the time to attack. There will be plenty of time for that later. Now is a time to see if the political and economic sanctions will work. For the first time in modern history China has censured North Korea. With China’s help there is hope that diplomatic action might work. Korea is now under greater pressure than they have experienced since the Korean War.
It won’t take long to see if we need to take military action. When we do take action it should be with the full force of our military and with as much support from the American people as can be mustered.

Why attack them, they are being threatened by China, South Korea and Japan.
There are other nations ready to bomb them if they don't straighten up.
I believe that we should see what the rest of the world is going to punish them with.
If we do not get satisfied results, we should then bomb the crap out of them.

We do not need to attack anyone else! We need to reorganize and strengthen the density of our troops for the protection of the American public. We are stretched too thin and therefore may be compromising our democracy all in the pursuit by some to preserve the Republican fiefdom presently in power.

If we went to Iraq For oil then wouldn't it be more abundant? I wouldn't be paying 3 dollars a gallon. Also China is their Allie. We don't want to start a war with China.
