Before my daughter was born, I was on a dead-on 28 day cycle. From July-August and August-September, my cycle has been 25 days long. It has now been 26 days. Can I take the test tomorrow or should I wait till day 29? Since I've had my daughter, even when I was on the pill, my period has been coming early. I just don't want to test too soon and it come out negative when it is a positive. I'm not asking "am I pregnant." I'm just asking if I can take the test tomorrow morning and get an accurate read.

As hard as it is to wait (believe me I know) it is better to be safe than sorry. I know a lot of women test a lot of times to see if that negative is going to change but I can't do that. Seeing that blank space depresses me for days so I wait as long as possible. My doctor said the best time to test is 1 week after you miss your period because periods can fluctuate from month to month. I take Metformin to regulate my periods and normally when I'm on it they are 28 days like clockwork. But for the past 2 months they have only been 23 days which makes it nearly impossible to determine when I'm ovulating. You may be back on your 28 day cycle so I would suggest waiting 1 week after you miss the 28 day mark and then test. Hope this help and good luck

ok, this may seem crazy, but i had similar problems last year, and i thought it was a tumor, find out it was a baby, that i didn't know i was carrying for 5months, and every test i took came out negative, and i had a cycle every month, no joke.... so i say yes it can take this long if there is a hormonial embalance(a.k.a stress of any kind), and it will throw your drive off, so take a blood test, and in the mean time, and between time you need to prepare yourself to be a mommy, and if i'm wrong i'm sorry but, the doc's advise is right but, if it doesn't show up in 2 days from 2day, go to the nearest free clinic and get a blood test, so you can get the results that day... hurry and get that blood work, so you can ease your mind, and don't end up like myself.... 5months later the doctor tells you it's a baby... the answer they gave me @ first was i was pre-menopause, i'm in my EARLY 30's..........hope i helped

The longer you wait the better, you don't want to set yourself up for disappointment if you test too early. I would wait until 29 or 30.
