the heat spots are probably the residue left from wax-based wood cleaners. you could use a very light steel-wool and carefully sand them out, but be carefull not to go all the way through the finish to bare wood.

I know this works with water, but I haven't tried it with heat marks.
Mayonaise, the full fat kind. It can't hurt the wood either way. Put the mayo on the spot heavily, don't scrimp. Put a piece of plastic wrap over it to more than cover the spot & leave it for at least 12 hours. It won't hurt to do it more than once if you see it working. Lemon oil the table after you clean up the mayo.

Try a paste made from cigarette ashes and water. Rub on and let set for a few minutes. Then take the scratchy side of a sponge and lightly scrub. Polish with Pledge. Your white mark should be gone. Works on my dinning room table!

Ihave a NEW WOODEN coffee table from rooms to go ... Ordered Pizza and my husband puts pizza on coffe table. WALAH ... heat spot.... .. I put pledge on it and the spot faded. But I would wait if the spot is new ,, and mabey it will fade . I would if you havent go to home depot and ask if they have a spray for this problem,. if not you are probaby going to have to re stain .. taking really fine sandpaper and a lightly re staining .
