I strongly suspect that you will have to at least put up a security/damage deposit. It is less likely that you will have to pay the last months' rent in advance. In the end, the terms should be spelled out in the lease. Most landlords will give you a copy of the lease to study before you sign it. Make sure that you read it carefully. Make sure that your roomates are equally legally responsible for their share of the rent and utilities. If you are the only one signing the lease, and your roomate(s) bail on you, you will be left holding the bag. The landlord will expect you to honor the terms of the lease and will not listen to excuses about roomates moving out or leaving school.

Good luck with your situation.

Sometimes depends on the landlord you may just pay for a sceurity deposit some will count the full first month's rent as the las month's rent because of the dates stayed by their residents ask the landlord they can tell you

It's completely dependant upon what the landlord requests/requires. It's not a written rule or law. However, the landlord may require that you pay first and last month's rent, and it's customary to do so.

usually you pay 1st last and a security deposit and sometimes a finders fee to the realtor, but each place is different. you will have to sign a lease.
