North Korea isn't threatening the US at all. Instead, the US wants North Korea to end it's nuclear program and North Korea is willing to negotiate.
The very first thing North Korea wants in those negotiations is a firm commitment from the US not to attack or invade North Korea.
The US has so far refused to agree to that, so the negotiations are over and the North Korean nuclear program continues.
Given the US position (a refusal to agree not to attack), I cannot fault North Korea at all for wanting nuclear weapons.

You know what nothing! North Korea is so itching to fight it is ridiculous. Being under the leadership of a warmonger has warped all since of reasoning and judgment. This country wants power so much that they can taste it. No, there is no negotiations simply because of two factors:
1. The Koreans don't want to talk there is something more to that then meets the eye. You can believe it.
2. The United States now under the leadership of a total out of touch President by the name of George W. Bush his administration has dropped the ball with Iraq now what they want to do is press the blame on Bill Clinton who in not even in this equation of why things have spiraled out of control.
When you look at the big picture North Korea has been left unchecked for some time now and I would even go as far as to say before Bill Clinton was voted into office. We have never really looked further into the North Korea issue because we were so worried about Arab-Israeli, Iraq and Iran situation also including the situation with Hamas, Hezbollah and the Shites.
The United States has so many different issues that is on there plate that they probably now cannot keep up.
Actually since North Korea is saying we are trying to start a war that is telling me that the little man is old and is scared of his own shadow.

Mainly money. Korea's economy is near doomed. They have put everything in this nuclear project and economic sanctions are killing their economy. Its a catch 22. If they get money they might go for a stronger nuclear program and if they do not get money they are threating to launch war.

How much money and economic assistance they can obtain by practicing their form of international extortion.
Kim runs his country into the ground and starves his own people while pursuing nuclear weapons, great personal wealth, suppport for his cronies, etc., and then wants the rest of the world to bail him out.
I say we tell him to go screw himself.

They want everything. After 8 years of dealing with Clinton, they now expect to not only to continue nuclear testing/development, but they also want us to give them billions in buyoff money.
