My pc has a virus and its slowing everything down, is it possible to get it cleaned or do I need a new pc??

Big question, you can:
Run the best anitvirus software available
Repeat in Windows safe mode
If that fails then look on the web for specific ways of killing the particular virus
If that fails then you may ultimately need to reinstall windows as a clean installation. This will format the disk first and the virus cannot reappear

You dont need a new pc.
You need to install an anti virus program and a malicious software removal program and get rid of all the things that are harmfull to your pc.
To start you can use a couple of free programs on the link below and see how you get on.

First try solve the problem of slowing.Find out what is the Problem created buy.
It may be Due to the Insufficient RAM,Memory space,Programs running in back ground.
Check these these all..Check startup program by going in
..start ...than ..run..type there..msconfig..when the OS is XP..
than to startup button...remove..all the ticks from the rows ..than click ok.. than restart it...You will find ceartinlysome thing good.
if the probblm is not solved than unstall the anti virus what you have than install Panda anti virus .Update it ..

Format your hard drive. Go to "My Computer", right click "Local Disk" and select "Format". This deletes everything off your pc.

take it to a local computer repair shop and have them wipe you your operating system and reinstall it again for you. Make sure you save anything on it that you want to keep to a disc first, because when you get it back it will have nothing on it.
