The US economy is very good, but not great.

The Gross Domestic Product has been growing at a good rate for the last 3 years.

Wages for all income groups are on the rise, as shown by the latest US Census figures.

Unemployment is quite low, at 4.6%, and has been under 4.8% all year long. The economic recovery has created an average of 180,000 new jobs per month, for the last 37 months.

Home ownership is at an all time high. Inflation is under control. Energy prices are coming down. The federal budget deficit is coming down, due to increased tax receipts because of the expanding economy. The stock market is on the rebound.

These are good economic times.

There are some warning bells in some of the economic predictor statistics, but at this point, it's too early to tell if anything bad will happen in the next year, economically speaking.

Michigan has always been a dump Answerman i know people who lived there and if the national economy is bad based on just Michigan then how do you explain other states booming economies? Look at Nashville TN which has an average 2% unemployment rating since 2001 and a budget surplus.

Anybody wants to know how much unemployment really is, or how people are really doing as opposed to 8 years ago needs to come to Michigan and look for work. The economy is in the dump due to this criminal and corrupt presidents insistence on giving tax cuts to the wealthy.

The word "Muckraker" at the beginning of the article says it all. Pure yellow journalism. Did you not see the article on Yahoo! today about the national debt being at its lowest point in four years?

I already knew this the "thirty something dems" on CSPAN every Monday and Tuesday evenings between 8-10pm do a good job at presenting the truth.
