I wouldn't complain too much. Many 'Rez's make so much money from Casino's. I think they are quite content with that.

take land, separate them from the rest of society. they refused to assimilate into the American culture (white mans culture) they did not want to loose what was left of their own culture, they suffered a great deal and the after effects are still going on today. They made many of different tribes live together. Do some research you will be happy you did. Good luck and God bless

From what I understand, there really was no other reason. It was also due to the fact that throughout history, eastern Europeans had issues with always having to dominate. Native Americans would have been much easier to subdue in reservations.

The WHITE MAN is also a human being. He has conscience too. Seeing Native Indians moving about freely everyday would be an unbearable irritation on their conscience after KILLING SO MANY OF THEM. The plan was ACTUALLY TO EXTERMINATE THE INDIANS!

So, the solution: PUT THE FOLKS IN A PEN, LIKE ANIMALS. OUT OF VIEW. Like we say: Out of sight, out of mind.

well it was sort of like slavery the white man felt bad for what they did to them so they try to make it up to them by giving them chuncks of land here and there tax free. white man came to my country and defeated my people( i'm part american indian) they tortured us raped girls killed people and sent us on the journey of trail of tears. they were more advanced so it was an easy defeat and especially because they sort of befriended us 1st then stuck it to us when the wanted to do things their way with the land. years later after my culture and people were practically extinct they decided what they did was wrong so they gave the amer. ind. reservations where they can live and dont have to worry about anyone telling them what to do on that land, which is why many reservations now have huge casinos on them, basically because they can!they make mad money from it and the white man cant say sh*t! after what they went through, they deserve it

To protect what was left of the Native American's culture so that New Americans who opposed the development of big business would be "shut up". Everyone is ruined by it now anyways...

The trail of tears in 1838 was started because of the gold found on their land in Georgia.
So I would say, just plain greed.

not all of went to a reservation. my tribe (Cow Creek Band of Umqua indians) refused to go to the res the picked for us because there was no food source and we would have died. so the US government ordered the Army to hunt us down and kill us. they were not able to do it because we hide. here is a link to my tribe, they have more info on what happened on line.
