Yes it is called a heat pump,it is basically reverse a/c so the colder it gets outside the less heat it will make for the inside.If you are in acold climate you will need something else as a2nd stage on the coldest days,ie. gas oil eletrc resistance heat.

Most people call that a heat pump. The principle is to run the A/C in reverse to the normal cycle, so your inside coils become the condenser and the outside coils become the evaporator.
