People forget the fact that bathing was done in those days in a hierarchial system, i.e men first, women last. so could one of the men masturbated in the bath tub before she got in? whats your view or suggestions.

Fantatical religious freaks who cant debate with clarity need not answer.

This is a long shot. But a very intelligent long shot. Very.

There are infinitely many possibilities but the bathtub is a stretch -pretty impossible. And I really don't think poor people bathed that way in biblical times, they probably bathed outdoors in areas separated by gender.

Could it be a woman covering up her infidelities? Did Mary not understand the birds and the bees in the days before anatomy was thoroughly studied and few were educated? Or was it truly a miracle?? Christianity kind of hinges on the immaculate conception, and luckily the mystery will never be solved. Faith and fact are not one in the same, or the world would be a scary place. You think the fanatics are crazy now? Try telling them you have cold hard evidence that their faith is all a hoax. Keep in mind that no one knows how the bible was intended to be interpreted. Anything and everything in there could be figurative and/or methaphorical......or completely fictional stories created over generations to explain creation and the unknown because they had no other means of explaining it.

Sperm could never survive in a bath water solution. The Virgin birth is Catholicism, Christian religious beliefs. Trying to prove or disprove something that is based on a faith principle will never take place. All you are doing is trying to attack the faith of a religious group by degrading it. Maybe the Virgin birth happened and maybe it didn't but you can choose to believe or choose to not believe. Maybe you can figure out how Jesus walked on water or how Moses parted the Red Sea. Why don't you figure out if Muhammad was really a Prophet of God. Did Joseph Smith really have a vision?

Maiden made in Alexandria!

I don’t mean to be rude, Doctor, but I believe you’re barking up the wrong virgin – err, tree.

I don’t even have to go as far as you do - to prove that Mary may not have had a virgin birth.

Where’d I get my evidence? The Jewish Bible itself!

Yes, the original Hebrew texts (originals, not Greek translations) did not mention a prophesy of a virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14).

The Jewish word ‘almah’ means young woman or maiden. Now, would you go around calling a bar maid a virgin? No!

Kudos to the lady above me for her precise answer!

I prefer the more obvious and straightforward explanation that someone chose to interpret the greek word 'parthenos' as meaning virgin, and not simply a young girl, and on the basis of that translation hangs a religious ideology.

It does sound like a plasuable idea, because sperm can last for a bit before dying.

However, the idea of getting pregnant from sperm being in water only works if the water is plain warm water. So, could it have happened because the water was already warm? Sure, it could have. Your question is a very original and kudos for that.

That's ridiculous! I hope you're not a physician?

I don't know the answer to that question, but I am sure, even in heaven, Joseph is still mulling it over in his mind today...

Walking around in circles in Heaven, talking to himself. Like Most men would be. I actually find it harder to believe that he stuck around and raised Jesus as his own more than I have trouble with the whole virgin Birth thing... I do believe they emphasize the wrong miracle.

In any sence, I agree with Paul upstairs, above me...

I honestly doubt it, sperm can only live a very short time out in the air like that, not to mention living long enough to "swim" to where it needed to go to make that happen.

It's all a lie, Mary and Joseph were messing around in the stables one night, and when she ends up knocked up, they create this huge lie that never ends. See, this is why you should never lie, look what happens.
