Depends if he can hack it out there and stand the pace. No reason why a soldier shouldn't all part of their training.

Thats just like a soldier from any other country doing a 6 month tour in Iraq. There are American soldiers doing year long tours. There should be no reason why you wouldn't survive. As long as you do what you were trained to do and do your job, you'll make it through fine. I just got done doing 4 months and I would go back to do 4 more if the system let me.

The exact figure is as follows:
He has a 98.5125% of surviving the six month tour.
This is based on the number of people who have been sent to Iraq and the number that have died in proportion to time spent in iraq all since 2003
Hope this helps.

Practically, excellent odds.
Mentally, overwhelming odds.
Being a target is one thing, but being a continuing target in a confined area is the equivalent of playing Russian Roulette.
Having been in similar situations many times I am glad I am not there. Money doesn't come into it either, albeit a gesture on the part of the Government.
Dry mouth with words that need water before they brokenly leave the lips, is no way to live day after day.
Their voices heard on TV says it all to me.
British Squaddies.
I'm proud of them.

Good. Compared to 2 years ago. My military friends tell me things you don't hear on the news because good news doesn't sell papers. For example 9 out of 10 bombers are stopped due to the Iraqi citizens calling in with information (seems the populace is getting sick of more civilians getting killed than troops) a much improved ratio than 2 years ago plus the "insurgency" as it is called is now relegated pretty much to foreign terrorists now as the Saddam loyalists are pretty much calling it a day.
I don't see how Al-Queda can keep up the pace with their leadership changing so much due to arrests or getting perished. I give Al-Queda another year in Iraq before they realize it's hopeless barring any unforseen circumstances such as a US troop withdrawl or the liberal democrats getting a large majority in the senate over their more moderate and logical party members.
