It's good that this teacher was fired. Nude sculptures are works of the devil. This is another good sign that Christians are taking back America.

The art should be age appropriate and a warning might have been more appropriate if none have been given so far.

No, she should not have lost her job. It's art. Parents know there are nudes in galleries. I was an art ed major in college, and there is nothing wrong with it. Most important classical works are nude. There is a difference between nude and naked. I'm sure these people don't understand that.
I'm also sure that the teacher had a talk with these kids before, explaining what the sculptures are all about.
Nude art is not the work of the devil, you just sound like another nut job on Yahoo.

Absolutely not! Do parents only become concerned after the fact, when they get to ruin someone's life, or sue someone? Have they filed their lawsuit yet? They apparently weren't concerned enough BEFORE the field trip, when the kids broght the permission slips home, to go check out the museum and see what it contained. They took the lazy road, signed the paper, now they're complaining. If parents were really this concerned, they would have gotten involved in their children's lives and educations before this happened - if you don't like the way your school does things, volunteer to help out instead of just griping about it. Ask questions. Go with the kids on their field trips. Be a parent, not a bullhorn.

no. that's effing ridiculous. i'm a christian. very seriously a christian and...come on. you can't shelter people from what the world is. that's not what christianity is about. it's about being righteous in the face of the adversity, your own free will. nude sculptures exist. they're not going away. if you don't like them, don't look at them. if you don't want your kid seeing them, then don't let him. but, keep in mind, that at some point he probably will. no one says you have to pose nude. what we're talking about here is paranoia and censorship. it's like that banned book list of all the books that can't be read in schools. or the people that have book burning parties. some great works are being expunged because people can't handle the mere mention of something controversial. but life is controversial. people are controversial. if others can identify with the feelings of an author or sculptor or whatever, and feel connected with other people, to know that one isn't abnormal and a sense of belonging is immeasurably important. fundamental christians seem to want to set out to alienate and divide in the name of winning souls. how do you get anyone to listen to you when you condemn and judge? how do you make people listen to you when they can't trust you? if this life is about the ultimate decision, is about drawing a line in the sand, as i believe, then, d*mn it, i'm out for souls, not sculptures.

Speaking as a fellow Christian, the parents should have been warned that their children may have been exposed to nude paintings and sculptures, but firing that teacher is going too far. Do you honestly think that it was her deliberate intent to show depictions of nude people to children and somehow pervert their thinking? That's ridiculous. She was simply trying to show them art in a real-world context. If they're going to blame anyone, they should blame the school administration for failure to warn the parents.

This is outragous. How can they fire her for a child seeing art and what is natural. The child sees why more on TV than in an art museum. Lets get a grip on reality!! If you don't want your child to see a nude art work then don't let him or her go to the museum.

I don't think she should have been fired. She has probably been taking kids to that very same museum for all of her 28 years in teaching. This is sad and ridiculous that a seemingly good teacher is going to loose her job because of a few 5th grade perverts.

OMG. That is so frickin stupid. Is it a big secret what naked bodies look like? Are they not suppose to know? Do the kids parents tell them to close their eyes when they get dressed? That teacher had better sue big time. All the others need a big slap upside the head.

No. It was ridiculous that she was fired. Kids see more on TV today than "offensive" art in a museum. I hope she sues and wins.
