I make no claim that tolerating adverse weather is good for one's character -- or anything else. But I certainly would not want to live year round in Florida, where the bugs and the humidity are in constant competition to see which can make the populace more miserable.

Cold winters are just that...Cold. But the change in temp is a nice thing. I live in Colorado and enjoy the brisk mornings and really love running in 12-20 degree weather. Nothing feels better. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

I recently moved from nothern michigan to florida, and i'd say that cold winters make your blood thicker, but im not so sure they build character. Makes you appreciate any sunny day, in floirda it's sunny 99.99% of the time so i don't think people appreciate it as much cause it's always there.

I love to snowboard but I still dread winter. I highly doubt cold winters help build character, but they sure curb crime (criminals and troublemakers seem to hibernate during the coldest winters).

I've lived in the North East U.S. all my life, and I'm stil not used to the cold winters, if anything I'm becoming less tolerant of it. I think you're just normal. :)

I personally am jealous of Florida and San Diego, CA. Of course if I lived where you do I'd be jealous of my home in Oklahoma.
