My favorite is The Firm, followed closely by The Client. Both, especially The Firm, kept me hooked since the very first page; it was one of the fastest books I've ever read. However, John Grisham can get kind of repetitive after a while, after reading The Firm and The Client I would recommend that you take a break from lawyer novels (The Street Lawyer and The Runaway Jury were good too) , and try A Time To Kill (I haven't read it yet, but I've heard it's really good). I read A Painted House, which was quite different from lawyer novels, and even though it didn't hook me as much, it was still interesting, and overall, a good book.

The Brethern was really good. I also like The Rainmaker. As for the books that don't deal with law, I liked The Painted House and The Bleachers. Grisham is one of my favorite authors, so it's hard to pick just one.

A Painted House was just great! Nothing like his "usual" law-based stories, which I do like, but just a great story. The Testament is probably my second favorite.
(Can't wait to read The Innocent Man)

All his books are terrific but the one I enjoyed most was Painted House. Couldn't lay it down until I had finished. Will probably read again sometime which is unusual for me. If you haven't read it, you must. You will be surprised. I agree it could be anothe classic. Probably as good as To Kill a Mocking Bird.

I enjoy all of his books, but I guess The Client is my favorite. I have read all of his books except An Innocent Man. I will buy that as soon as I get my check

A Painted House.
It's nothing like his other books, but I think it will be a classic in years to come. Almost as good as Steinbeck!
I don't think he's writeen much that's any good since, to be honest.

In my openion, his all time masterpiece is "A Time to Kill" because along with being really strong in language and imagery, it's touching, thought-provoking and full of action. I love everything he writes though.
