If you jump off a building you're going to hit the ground. I don't mean gravity. We're not referring to unbreakable principles of the universe like gravity. Do you believe that what you think, what you feel, and what manifests into your life experience is always a match? Like how people always say "I knew he was going to do that, that always frustrates me argh". That the expectation, created the result, or heightened it's probably according to other factors in application. How do you feel about it?

Perhaps it's because we only see what we want to see, or are looking for, rather than what reality actually is at the time in it's entirety. I forgot what they call the term for blocking out things you see regularly. But that's what I'm referring to. We're all the main characters in our own reality, seeing world from the first person, and everyone else appears to be a seperate entity. In that sense, maybe our worlds aren't so different. Because that'd mean if we believe that "worrying yourself sick" is a problem, as she used as an example, it'd only effect you because you're not thinking about anyone else in the first person. Thus what you create is mostly for yourself on that respect, but that'd also mean your expectation of others will slightly affect what they're creating for themselves as well. Perhaps it's about who has more belief, and how many people are believing it. Maybe this creates the power behind most religions, who knows.

Faith, belief, and desire by themselves do not very often translate into lived reality by any sort of magical means, but these mental states often translate into actions (sometimes conscious, but often unconscious) that can change many physical realities in life. I’m not saying that there is absolutely never any magic in the world, but the primary fact of existence is that it is a complex system with innumerable interrelated parts. And each of these parts is, itself, a complex system. Each of us lives within this complex web of meanings and relationships and none of us (so far as I know) has enough understanding of the system to make things happen in just the way we want. Everything we do has unimaginably complex results in the future, which makes precise prediction impossible. Still, our attitudes and beliefs do have impact on our environment, and they do help shape our reality. Even if some people do develop an ability to change physical reality by magical means, they will still face the problem of the world’s complexity, and will find that what they want is not always what they get, and what they think they want may not always be what they really want. Full and genuine self-knowledge is difficult and rare.

Yes you create your own Reality. Certain immutable laws (like gravity) you can't do much about but you choose to jump off the building!

A lot of what apparently "happens to us" & seems beyond our control however is actually, in a sense, our own creation. What you believe or expect to happen is largely what comes to be. You attract it to yourself. Also, reality isn't just the fact of what happens to you, but your reaction to it. Your belief system (whether it be positive or negative) will determine how you interpret the event. Essentially you see what you want to see (or fear you will see).

I know this from my own experience. I used to be very negative (used to be, ok yeah I'm a work in progress!) in relationships. I expected to be hurt & each time I'd think "See, I was right! I knew he'd hurt me!" but I began to realize that I was partially responsible because of the sort of men I would choose & the way that I would act that may have driven them to act the way they did. I created bad relationships because that's what I expected. Now that I'm more open-minded, I can see a good relationship for what it is (ok well I am still sabotaging it in my little ways, but he's a great guy & hopefully will put up with my neuroses while I try to be more positive!)

You don't CREATE your own reality, but you do influence it. You influence those around you by your actions, words or expectations. People can sometimes, accurately predict the next event in the chain because they live and exist here and interact and so you get a sense as to how things work. However I do believe that you could worry yourself sick. When it comes to your own person, people have way more of an influence than they realize.

The answer hinges on the definition of reality. Since everyone has an egocentric view that is slightly different, you can say that reality is different for everyone. But that is a narrow view of reality. Another view is that reality is constantly changing. Things die, things are consumed, a river flows, etc, the reality is never constant. Here again you can say everyone has a different reality. But, it doesn't alter the cosmos significantly.

My dear friend, I strongly sense that you would have a great affinity for the written works of a man called Robert Anton Wilson. Particularly his books Cosmic Trigger and Quantum Psychology. What you discuss is exactly what he is writing about. He is a famous author and you will probably find his website easily. His books are not expensive and are always in print. Have fun!

Yes, I do. I do believe that we create our own reality. It is called the power of mind. What we think is what the reality we want. Because what we think, whether we realize it or not, will lead us to act. We are directed to certain direction that the 'map' is drawn in our mind. Therefore, there is a phrase saying "Be careful what you wish for". It's true. No hocus pocus in it at all.

Yes we are just like children playing inside our house, each one has his own room. We don't know how to go outside so we just decorate and do anything we think good to our rooms. We keep on imitating, worshiping, the higher ups, fighting our peers and kicking those down below. Each one of us has his own free will or selfishness, and we are sometimes having limited happiness and most of the time loneliness in our own created niche. This is our own created reality isn't it?

This is a matter of psychology. If you expect something to happen, you will unconsciously make it happen. I think we can make our own reality though, although our own is about the same as the rest of the world's. Unless you hallucinate, your reality is other people's reality as well. Expectations are made accordingly with the situations, because we tend to think of the norm.

Why aren't you talking about gravity? Because that's "silly"? (remember this IS the philosophy section).

What makes the "reality" defined by gravity different from the other reality you theorise we create?

in some ways everyone's reality is a bit different just because everyone has different beliefs... i do believe that if you "worry yourself sick" you neglect yourself and have a better chance of getting sick... and if you think or believe something strong enough you in a way make it happen...
