Grab and extra pillow or two and sleep solely on your back, not side or belly. Get your hubby or significant other to rub the sore areas too, to try and 'work' it out. It may not go away until your little one is born, so do the best you can, but certainly don't take any medicine for it!

I am nine months pregnant and have this same problem. It started around twenty weeks for me too. First of all do not just sleep on your back the weight of your baby and placenta on your veins slows blood flow and since you are pregnant your body clots easier.... you can get a blood clot in your leg that can travel up to your lungs or brain.
Secondly make sure you are not over doing it. The ligaments in your body loosen up as your pregnancy progresses to make room for the baby to come out. This puts extra stress on your back that is now forced to carry whatever weight you gain. If you are not relaxing your muscles enough during the day whenever you stop to rest they will rest themselves. This can lead to bad back and abdominal pain. Once you start experiencing this pain there is nothing you can take for it and trust me it only gets worse unless you rest more.
Some back pain is to be expected in pregnancy but don't deal with more pan then you have to have. A chiropractor helped with the pain a bit as well if that is an option for you. But you have to continue visits throughout your pregnancy. Be sure to get all the rest that you can during the day and change your position often. Good Luck!

Ahh good ole back pain. I have had it since I was in my 1st trimester. I am now in my 3rd. it got to be so bad at times that I couldn't even move. It could be a bladder infection, a UTI, all of the above. So do go and have your doctor check everything out! One thing that would sometimes help was when my husband popped my back for me. But other times there was nothing. Not even the Codine that my doctor gave me helped. And it couldn't get massaged out either. I felt like it was all the way in my bones. It could be that too. Just your body getting ready and changing. Good luck!

I am 19 weeks and 6 days pregnant and I have been getting sharp pains and a lot of cramps too. The pains I get are below my belly button and on the left and right side. I'm gonna talk to my midwife about this. I've had cramps and a lot of pain since the beginning of the pregnancy. Some days are good and other days I wanna lay in a fetal position in bed. LOL

I have that problem I am 20 weeks pregnant I only get it at night time, you should probably start stretching you back muscles a little that is what I was told to do it helps a little I dont get it all the time, and you actually arent suppose to use heating pads or blankets or anything like that it is bad for the baby, unless it isnt very hot. This website will give you things to try and help the back pain.

Sorry you are in pain. Be sure to tell your doctor. With my first one he was face up so i had nothing but back pain, His big ol'head was pushing on my low back. even through the delivery. No one said anything about getting on my hands and knees so the baby would turn over. You could try that and arching your back, lay on the floor, flat on your back to.Do this several times every day. Keep up with the heat pads even during the day when you are not in pain. Your half way there kid do just hang on. Exercise some, walk allot.

The ligaments are a little looser during pregnancy which can cause back pain for some women. I found lying in a fetal type position helped some. Make sure your back has plenty of support when you sleep (don't sleep on stomach or back - side is the best, and the left side is best for baby).

Sounds like the baby is on your sciatic nerve. The only cure...Birth. Is it impossible to lay on your back? That's usually a symptom. Just sleep on your side with a body pillow between your legs. This will usually help relieve pressure. Good luck.

Its back pain and its normal. You ahve relaxin in you system and it changes how our joints move and align. Even without the heavy belly there is still extra weight pulling on your lower back, plus the relaxin effects.
Its part of pregnancy. Wear good shoes and stay active.
Do stretches before and after sleep.

having a uti infection can causes back pain because your kidneys are in your lower back. Keep taking your meds and it should get better but remember being pregnant is no walk in the park back pain comes with being pregnant.
