HEY, WE EXIST!!! I'M ASSYRIAN!! lol Yes we do exist, there are sadly 4 million of us alive today, worldwide. It is true, 750,000 Assyrians perished in the Assyrian Genocide in 1914-1918, committed by the Ottoman Turks. The Assyrians were killed simply because they were Christian. Turkey still has not recognized the Genocide of the Assyrians, as well as the Greeks and Armenians, also committed at the same time. Most Assyrians today have left Mesopotamian (Iraq) due to Saddam's reign and the idea of not having rights (speech and religion mostly)--many churches were bombed by Saddam's militia, and still are getting bombed today by terrorists. Assyrians are known as the first group of people to accept Christianity. The ancient Assyrians/Mesopotamians are also credited for the inventions of the first written language, the wheel, lens, glass, irrigation system (toilets), the ziggurat (predecessor to pyramid), number 0, soap, guitar, and many more innovations. Modern day Assyrians are scattered all over the world due to the vile treatment they endured in their once Empire. They presently are fighting to be heard in Iraq. They wish, like everyone else, for peace in the Middle East--especially in Iraq.

They are comprised of several groups of people that were the first to adopt Christianity in the middle east. They had tried to settle in several middle eastern countries, but met with harsh attrocities in Iraq, Turkey and Iran. After WW2 they were all but eliminated and have been scattered across the globe. There are descendants still living in many countries including the US.

Assyrians are Aramaic-speaking Christians who consider themselves to be indigenous inhabitants of Mesopotamia, and inheritors of the ancient culture of Assyria. They have a culture, language, and religion that is distinct from that of modern-day Arabs, Kurds, Persians, and Turks

They still exist, they've just been assimilated into different Middle Eastern ethnicities.
