Huh - my mum is West Indian, and my father is from Aberdeen, Scotland (but I was born in Norwich, England)...always love to put on a half-decent Billy Connolly accent for the rare racists I see!
Thought Italians and black folk were a no go across the Atlantic...and I've watched enough of The Sopranos not to change my mind!

Hold your head up high. Celebrate both sides. Enjoy the fact that you have a very interesting background and be proud to say that you have a wonderful mixed heritage: Italian and Black.

FIn America, if you have any minority blood at all (Hispanic, Black, Asian, etc) than you have to use the minority as your race. Even if it very small amount. I am 1/4 Hispanic. The restis French, and German, but I have to check Hispanic as my race. Italian is not considered a minority in this country.

Unfortunately, as soon as a person has African blood in them, they are considered black. How about Afro-Italian? It's a beautiful mix.
