Hairspray gets out ink. I've used it on clothes, and once removed a three year old stain from a sweatshirt.
For your carpet, get very close, so you don't have hairspray all over. Spray enough to wet the stain thorougly, then IMMEDIATELY blot with a clean paper towel. Repeat until the stain is gone. Once the stain is out, you'll need to shampoo your carpet (or at least spot clean it) to get the hairspray residue off.

Most of the time you can remove "ink" with regular, pump, hairspray. Any brand will do. once the ink spot is out, you can remove the "sticky spot" with regular soap and water. Just use hairspray and a small scrub brush. It might sound silly, but it truly works and it won't leave a big "bleach spot" your rug.
You may try Oxy carpet cleaner too, but I would try it on a hidden spot first to make sure it won't leave a "bleach spot". Good luck! I hope this helps!

I use Clorox clean up. My carpet is tannish white and I spilled ink on it and my stupid husband rubbed and it made it huge. I got the Clorox clean up and sprayed it on and rinsed it all out immediately and it came right up. It just depends on what color your carpet is. And you HAVE to rinse it out quickly or it will make a big white spot. Test it in a small inconspicuous spot first. Good Luck

do not use clorox!
lather a bath towel with warm water and soap
drench the effected area with the towel
scrub really hard
you will see the ink coming off the rug and onto the towel
rinse the towel out
repeat until all the ink is gone
let dry
