It depends on the game... a lot of recent games rely on the analog control and will not play if the analog mode is off.
To turn off the analog mode press the small button between the two analog sticks, but if the game requires analog control you normally either get a message telling you to turn on analog mode, or the analog mode will not turn off, this is especially relevant when the game uses the d-pad for other features.
p.s. the control system in 'angel of darkness' was poorly implemented anyway and it may be this, rather than the fact it uses analog control thats causing your problems.

It depends on the game your playing, i don't think you can on modern games but you can on older versions, just push the analog button on the pad until the light disappears then you know that it is off.

Jsut push the power button at anytime, unless the Memo card is in and says Do Not Turn Off.

try hitting the bottow w/ the red light in between the analogs, it usually wont go off w/ ps2 games but it will go off w/ ps1 games tho...

in the middle of the two analogue sticks their is a button which says analogue above it press that and the red light below it should go off

press the little grey button in the bottom middle and let go.
the red light below it should go off.
if not it has technical problems

Go to options in your game or just dont use it and use the left pad,it should work.Center button may help :)
