I'm just wondering because a cheking account was linked to one of those.

Paypal works fine- just don't go clicking on links in unsolicited e-mails claiming some weird transaction took place. Those are usually attempts to fool you to entering your Paypal ID/password into some overseas copycat site.

It's no different than sending a money order- once the you drop off the envelope, how do you know the person will actually follow through? Deal with reputable companies or some 3rd party like Ebay or Amazon to ensure that sellers will deliver what they promised.

I'm unsure of the others, but everyone I know with a PayPal account is satisfied with all of their transactions, etc.

I prefer money orders over wire tansfers but some have had good luck with paypal.

i use paypal both to pay for and recieve payments on goods and have never had a problem

yes I was just stiffed by a seller from e-bay and pay pal took care of it for me, I was refunded my money.
