I would try to contact the kohler's in waynesville, MO now. Since Kohler is not that popular of a name it is likely to be a family member, so let them know your story.

Private investigator, or you can try Googling him. You can also try contacting your High school some keep records as to where people went after graduation, especially if he went on to college. Then just keep working forward, college, work, military, who knows.
