Well that depends...

What you do in life determines your eternity.

If you were good, you'd go to Heaven.
If you were a bit bad, you'll do some time in purgatory.
If you were really bad, you'll burn in Hell.
If you're still clinging to this world, you'll roam it as a ghost.
If you have more life to live, unresolved issues to go over, you may be reincarnated, as something greater or lesser than you were, depending how you conducted yourself last time.
If you don't believe in anything, you're wormfood in the ground...

Death can be the end, or only the beginning...

In some ways, the choice is yours...

For those that don't believe in an afterlife, the proof of the soul's existence is its weight, 21 grams (the difference in the weight of a body just before & just after death). & when the soul leaves the body, apparently we see a white light...some people have had near-death experiences & came back from it. You could argue this light is Heaven or you could say it's just something that happens to the brain when we flatline. Who knows? The only experts are those who can't answer your question...

If you do not have a religion, then there are millions of possibilities. I would like to think of Death as eternal sleep. After Death, you just sleep forever. Some believe in afterlife, or heaven, a life of sorts somehow. I do hope that everyone has a soul that floats away to eternal happiness. But you won't ever know for sure unless you're dead. So don't overthink this question and be bothered by it. Just live life now as it is and you'll experience great joy. what comes after Death is none of our business for now.

Sorry, but this question is unanswerable.

It's exactly like asking 'Why are there things that taste better than a really good steak?' That question assumes that there really are things that taste better than a good steak, and then wants to know why this should be so.

Similarly, you assume that there's something 'beyond death', and then want to know what it is. You first of all have to prove that there's anything beyond death in the first place, before inquiring into its nature.

Beyond death of the physical body is rebirth again in any form
which we determine by our own actions. To quote an example a good person doing good without any thought of god can be reborn as a pet dog in a rich-man's house where he enjoys every thing even better than a million human beings but now he cannot think of God.

Death is something inevitable yet feared by most but not all people. Most people do not want to die and are open to the idea that somehow they will not die. Herein lies the basis for most religions afterlife is the ultimate carrot to offer someone in exchange for their servitude to your organization (religion).
You can promise it and nobody can prove one way or the other that you delivered or not on your promise. Then hell is the ultimate stick to yield as its existence cannot be proved nor disproved either. The genius of this stick and carrot power structure is that it is unprovable and it's power lies in fear of the unknown - what is beyond death.

I don't exactly "know" for sure but i've got a theory which i got from part of a book i've read. the books not about re-incarnation but it provoked some thoughts about our origins and made me compile my mad theory...

If you get the feeling of de ja vu - like you've been here before - we more than likely have in one of our past lives. We live each life till we get old or die or inevitably reach the end of that life. Then if there are any mistakes or lessons we learnt in "this" life we are re-icarnted into a new body (with our same soul) and we get to live again. the advantage we have is learning from our mistakes and each time we are re-incarnated we live a happier more fulfilled life and don't make the same mistakes again. Only when we have learnt all there is to learn and reach the end of that final life with all the knowledge of living - we will then not be re-incarnated. i think that's when we will die, then come to know "the real meaning of life!"

Thanks for listening

Death of what?

If you say yourself then you are living in an egotistically created world which is untrue.

There is no 'you' and 'me'.

There is consciousness which is the source of life, the route of all that 'is', and it has taken forms in the world through people, animals etc. You are just consciousness which has taken form.

You are not 'you' as such so there is no such thing as death because consciousness will never die. It will take shape in other forms and it has just stopped using your form but is still alive in many other forms.

This delusion that there is 'you' and 'me' is the cause of most of the problems in the world.

D'ya get me?

Nobody could possibly give an accurate answer, but according to Bible after death comes Eternal life or death.

A variety of religions will say many different things. However, no one can really say with absolute certainty because there is no proof. Evidence, yes. Proof, no.

So, my answer is that there could be nothing, or perhaps a whole new adventure. I'm sure we'll all find out sooner or later.
