Well I speak from experience, there are two things that have not been mentioned. The first and most common reason for only have a period once ever 5-6 months could be aneamia..this means you are not making enough blood cells, so your body is letting the blood cells it has work on the vital organs rather than build up inside your womb, when you are not pregnant!
The other reason why periods can be extremely painful is a condition called Endometreosis..I suffered with this condition for years and the doctors (including all my family and friends), thought I was being pathetic. This condition makes womb tissure grow outside of the womb, and then when you have a period it behanve in the same way..so creates more pain than you can imagine..and I know what childbirth is like..I would rather have that!
My personal advice would be to see the doctors..I'm assuming its not easy for you to loose weight as your dissabled..
My very best wishes for a speedy cure or result! :D

What causes painful periods?
There is no single proven theory, but there are several possible reasons:
contractions of the uterus similar to those felt in childbirth due to the hormone prostaglandin.
the pain can be caused by the cervix dilating when the blood and the tissue are passed out of the womb.
the pain can be due to earlier infections or inflammations of the uterus, or benign tumours in the uterus.
in some cases, painful periods are hereditary. If a woman has painful periods, her daughters may later be affected in the same way.
Irregular, infrequent periods (oligomenorrhoea)
Periods are often light or infrequent both when a young woman starts having periods, and also when a woman is nearing menopause. This is normal because they are not producing an egg every month.
Many women experience one or two irregular periods every six months. This is not usually caused by any serious condition; however, many women do seek an explanation and reassurance from their GP or gynaecologist.
The most common cause of infrequent periods is a condition called polycystic ovaries. This is a common condition affecting as many as 10 per cent of women, in which a large number of very small (less than 1cm) cysts on the ovaries appear in association with a hormone imbalance.
This condition results in irregular ovulation and thus periods are usually infrequent. The diagnosis of polycystic ovaries is made on the basis of one or more blood tests to measure hormones; a pelvic ultrasound scan of the ovaries is often taken as an additional test.
Treatment is only necessary if there is concern about the irregularity of periods or if a woman is having difficulty becoming pregnant.

because its the inner wall of your womb breaking off, isnt it? blood or whatever lines it ready for pregnancy but when that doesnt happen its comes off and out. I think, im 20 so i shud really know this by now.
here: Each month, when a woman gets her period, the lining of the uterus (which is called the endometrium) breaks down and is shed as menstrual flow.
I was right, i just didnt know the specific names :) woohooo
Maybe yours is very painfull because it keeps building up over the months then breaks off, causing more pain, mine are sometimes like this, it kills doesnt it, im on now, after not having one for 2 months, and in pain :(

Not only because the lining is coming off the walls of the uterus, but also because the uterus expands and contracts in the same way as it does when a woman is giving birth.
Have you thought about Evening Primrose Oil capsules? I have found them very helpful.

Maybe because you are only ovulating every 5-6 month. Every month I go through heavy periods and many times its because of ovulating. Things that make me feel better and also recommended are in this source. Eat right and you might want to get your period timing check out if not already did. Hope you feel better.

take cyclopam next time it hurts you too much.
But never get addicted to it or any kinda drug......What i mean to say is be careful while using any kinda medicine.
Being disabled you can still exercise. Visit your physiotherapist for suitable exercises. This will help in making your hormonal balance come to normal and lose weight. Which will eventually make your periods come on normal times.
Take care..........bye

Cramps are from the breakdown of the uterine lining, which is why it hurts so much.
