You'll probably have to meet with some head honcho - Dean of Students, Director of Student Activities - something like that. But it will definetely take a while. They'll have to fit it into their budget and they likely won't want to spend money on another sport team. If they go for it, you'll also have to start a petition and show proof that other students would play. They'll also have to factor in rival teams from other schools, transportation costs and coach salaries. Basically, it all comes down to money (as does everything). If they don't have it (or aren't willing to spend it), you won't get your field hockey team. They might think the school needs more important things than a football team. Good luck!

It requires money, not just for the football team, but the school would be required to either allow females on the team or pay an equal amount of money for a female team. Not only that, the money has to come from somewhere and it's likely, like with other schools, to come out of other school projects. So if you can come up with $100,000-$200,000 a year outside of the school budget, then you could probably get a football team going.

Does your school have an athletic director? Thats who you need to talk to first. Your football team has to go through the school because of insurance reasons. Get support from other kids, start a petition, if you have a school paper have them write an article. Get the support of your athletic director then take it to the school board. Uniforms and equipment can be expensive. Maybe you can get support from some local businesses. Get the word out through school paper even local paper if you need to. Show a picture of kids that are interested in playing. Make sure you have enough for a team before you get started then you will have others to help you. Get some parents involved. Here we have a football moms club. We help raise money for equipment for practice and supply snacks before games. GOOD LUCK!

I wonder if you mean football or soccer as continental football is being called. Not that it makes a difference in teambuilding.....
I would look foor industry not far of.... Industry that has an appeal in the sports world. Make a list of all the possibles.... Make sure you have designed the teams colours so you have something to show for. Calculate the costs... Know that transportation is part of the package deal. Caclulate the costs once again. Choose a name for your team, connect with business. Local shops might have an interest.... Already have a team?

I'm a highschooler myself and my friend and I started a tennis team for our school. The first thing we did was see how many people would try out for the team. We had 27 people interested. We needed 10 to 15 players. We than found a coach inside of one of the PE teachers. Since it's a first year, look for someone within the staff that would be interested in coaching. Next step we took was, we went and talked to the athletic director of our school. We told him that a few other schools have tennis teams and that we our school should expand the growth of sports. We told him we have 27 people interested and that the coach is already covered for. Where would we practice though, he asked. We replied by saying that we can go to public tennis courts to practice. First you need to know, why your school doesn't have a football team. Than you create solutions for those reasons. Is it that staff is worried about safety, not enough budget etc. Find answers to reasons and propose them to the athletic director. It's a long process but it works. Me and my friend started the idea of a tennis team in 9th grade. Now were in 10th grade and will start playing tennis in the spring of this year. Just be patient and good luck!!

You would need to talk to the principal or Athletic Director at your school to find out what it would take to get a football team started.
You will probably need to find other boys and possibly girls at your school who would be willing to play football. Then you should try to find faculty members who would be able to coach the football team.
The other thing you could do would be to go to some of the local businesses in your town and see if any of them would be willing to help sponsor your team. Through the business sponsorship you would be able to get some money for equipment. And if you have a business willing to fund part of the team it will be easier for the school to agree to starting a team. (If Comcast is in your area you might want to try asking them.)
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Football teams generate MONEY. Look at other schools in the division the team in question would be playing in and take a good look at how viable these teams are economically.
Then go to the school board and tell them you have a way to make MONEY. They will listen.

I like your enthusiasm for bring a football team to your high school. I hope that your journey for bring high school football to your schools is successful.
My advise to you for bring a football team to your high school is this recommendation. Talk to the members of the school board or the athletic director of your school and explain to them the advantages of having a high school football team. Some of what you want to say includes how it would benefit the school and the community. You do have to understand that putting a high school football team could cost funding and members of the community will have to pay out of their pocket through taxes to fund the team and some members of the community might like the idea of a football team in theory but in principal, they may see that a football team could be costly.
