I think it was burglary but not sure.

He was in prison years ago, before he was on the telly.

I found this, not much I know but this is all I can find:

After Handy Andy admitted to getting a buzz from petty theft at the age of seventeen, Craig (Charles) asked:

"Did you get so excited that you had to relieve yourself in people's houses? A lot of burglars do that, don't they? They pee on your carpet

From 'The Sun' paper on 11 Oct:

HANDY Andy Kane is putting his money where his mouth is for his big TV comeback.

The DIY expert stars in a makeover show with a twist.

He and his team face forking out up to £10,000 of their own money if they cannot boost the price of the house that they have renovated by at least that amount – in just three days.

It’s not just Andy who’ll learn from his mistakes – wily wannabe developers will pick up some tips too.

While it sounds like something of a nightmare for Andy – best known from BBC1’s Changing Rooms – it’s a dream come true for many a long-suffering homeowner.

Thanks to the new Living TV series, called Increase Your House Price By Ten Grand, tradesmen are having to put their reputations AND their cash on the line.

Dubbed the ultimate home improvement challenge, the series of six one-hour shows starts on November 10 and marks Andy’s return to television after Changing Rooms was axed last year.

Joining him on the project is sexy stylist and interior designer Hannah Sandling, who has worked with celebrities including Jamelia, Carmen Electra and her former flatmate Sienna Miller.

The other members of the team are carpenter and decorator Ali Morris, electrician and plumber Richard Handzel and Johnny Ellison, a builder and carpenter.

Together they will tackle one house in each episode of the telly series.

They have just three days to turn around each home’s fortunes or face the financial consequences.

The owners of the houses being renovated give the team just £1,000 to make the improvements – then they have to vacate the property and leave it in the hands of the experts for three days.

By the time they return, the team hope they will have a new-look home worth at least £10,000 more than the value it started with.

The final improvement price is decided by estate agents at the end of each show.

Property locations in the series will include Dagenham in Essex, Send in Surrey, Swindon in Wiltshire, Tooting in London, Bromley in Kent and Bournemouth in Dorset.

Andy said: “The Increase Your House Price By Ten Grand team consists of five very experienced people who cover all aspects of home improvements – carpenters, plumbers, builders, electricians, interior design and decoration.

“It is an unusual challenge to set ourselves, as ultimately we could end up forking out money left, right and centre if the estate agents deem the improvements to be worthless. But we’re all up to the challenge. We have the confidence in ourselves to do the best job we can over three days to secure the money for the homeowner.

“Then, hopefully, we can walk away without having to dip our hands in our pockets, as well as knowing we’ve done a great job!”
