I'm a 17 year old male and I take Lexapro for depression. I was wondering would you recommend me taking fish oil as I have heard that it should help people with depression. I have some fish oil at my house that I take for tendonitis because i'm a pitcher. It seems to help for the tendonitis and inflammation also I have also noticed that it has helped my facial complexion and my skins appearance. I am just wondering what you opinions are on fish oil and if I should take it. How much would you recommend taking? Also any other alternatives to help depression please let me know. Thanks....

First of all do not listen to anyone telling you it might mix badly with other drugs. Fish oil IS NOT a drug and will not adversely affect you unless of course you are allergic to fish. Unfortunately fish oil will not help with your depression. Fish oil is used for two things:
1. Exactly what you are using it for, to help in discomfort in joints.
2. It helps your body absorb protein more efficiently.
Any recommendations for drugs on depression I would recommend going through your doctor.

`a major cause of depression is yeast bread, so no bread, but take olive leaf extract cos this kills the yeast fungus and can make depression disappear
`beer and smoking can make depression too
`crushed pineapple juice is good for tendonitis (so is olive leaf)
`st johns wort, evening primrose oil with fish oil is good for happiness also
`just take what the dose recommends, but take a little extra if you feel u need it
`vitamin b is a good tonic for the brain, u know you need it if the lips are thin, ur cranky, if accident prone, if stressed, if eat white bread or chocolate or alcohol cos these things destroy vit b

Hi there John. Please read carefully as well. The fish oil market is one of very shady content. Almost (all) of the fish oil supplement one can purchase through health food and nature stores contain almost (no) fish oils whatsoever.

A good friend of ours who is a naturopath spent years researching the fish oil market and just last year, found a fish oil product that contains 100% fish oil nutrient in each bottle. So, do your homework and do it well, for throwing money out the door to support those fly by night health food supplement outlets is senseless.
