That would be why they're called 'soul mates' and not 'face mates'..... duh.

If the person is truly your soul mate, appearance will be unimportant. "Attractive" is in the eye of the beholder.
I had a boyfriend when I was 16 who told my sis he couldn't understand why I was surprised that he liked me (since he thought I was pretty). Sis said, "Yeah, she's gorgeous!" He answered, "Well, I wouldn't exactly say she was GORGEOUS." That line helped me break up with him.
Flash forward 2 years. I'm dating another guy and he calls me a gorgeous blond. I was actually rather average-looking, but that was how he saw me.
We are now married (have been for SEVERAL years) and are still madly in love. Even with all our signs of aging, we still find the other wildly attractive.
Love is about commitment and truly caring about the soul inside of someone. If you really have that, the attraction will be there. If not, when the person gets old or fat or irritating, you will probably bail and it was never truly love on your part.

If this person is your 'soulmate' then physical appearance takes a back seat to all other qualities. To allow such a short lasting appeal, such as looks, prevent you from falling in love, is ridiculous. Looks fade, and there isn't enough Botox or plastic surgery in the world that can sustain someone's features forever.
At the end of the day, all you have to look forward to is a good conversation & an amazing personality.

That's why they are called soul mates...it's what is in the soul that counts...you could have a pretty (girl) or handsome (boy) face and be a down right mean person.

Get over yourself. If you think this person is your soulmate, then physical appearance is not a big deal. But it seems as though you are pretty shallow, so maybe you should ask to see pictures, and if they are unattractive, then admit you're a very shallow guy and it's not working because you have problems with imperfected images.

I dont think it should matter because they are your soul mate. If you really love the person it shouldn't matter and if you haven't met your soul mate yet, why should you worry now!?!

You know what? I'm a terrible person. I'm not REALLY shallow, but I definitely am to a certain point.
If the person was severely obese or so grosse that I couldn't get past it, then I'd rather be alone.
HOWEVER, there is this one man in my life who I would still love if he lost an arm or a leg, was covered in burns from a fire, anything like that...
