a) Coughing with you mouth open and spraying people around you with germs and bits of food you haven't swallowed yet.
or;
b) Coughing with your mouth closed and getting boogers shoot out your nose.

I prefer coughing with my hand over my mouth and letting everything deposit in my hand then cleaning up with a tissue.

If one of those had to happen to me, I would prefer that I coughed with my mouth open and germs and food spray all over the place. That wouldn't be as embarrassing as boogers flying out of my nose!

Well, option A is gross and impolite, if you are around people you aren't supposed to cough on them. Option B is gross and embarassing because if you have boogers shoot out of your nose people laugh at you and you may never live it down. Hmmmm, I'd have to go with B because then at least I'm not coughing ON people and getting germs and food and spit on them.

I'm gonna go with B, Vanna. At least you're trying to be polite. The other way is just, ick. If someone covered their mouth in front of me and boogers shot out, I would try to make it humorous for them instead of embarrassing.

The first one would be worse cuz stuff actually gets sprayed on others and they would be really disgusted. Well, they would be disgusted with the second one too, but at least the boogers don't get on them!

Neither are pleasant (oops, used your word) but I'd say that the most important thing is not to choke on whatever you're eating.
At least if you cover your mouth and nose with your cupped hands you have a good chance of catching most of the stray bits of snot/food/bogies and it'll also hide most of it from view.
Sneezing and involuntarily pooing....now THAT's worse. It happened to my ex!

The polite thing is to "cough" onto your upper arm. So neither or those options apply really.

I think the booger is better .... everyone can get a laugh at your expense .... as opposed to the other one ... everyone gives a "eeewwwww" at your expense

i like the first one.. everyone on this earth are our broz and sis.. so i believe that they should share our happiness as well as sickness !!...
