Most of the time i ask the questios but i don;t get asked about me? why is that? are americans these days so self centered that they have no clue how to socialize? i said some ok not all!

I feel it's because they are intimidated by the knowledge i have and that i am a beautiful ethnic woman? you think it's competition?

Perhaps you are not as beautiful and intelligent as you believe.

Perhaps you should seek out a different class of people to mingle with.

Perhaps you should not put people on.

I'm surprised at your comments. I often visit America - indeed, I've lived briefly in New York, and I've never had any problem getting into conversation with Americans of all backgrounds and ethnic origins. I found them just as interested in me, and where I come from (the UK), as I have been in them.

Incidentally, how would they know about the level of knowledge you possess if they do not speak to you long enough to elicit such information? And if you are a beautiful woman I would have thought that most American males would be delighted to find out about your background and opinions. Or maybe you are really aiming your criticism at the women you meet, in which case there might be some truth in your observation. Lots of women are wary of bright, beautiful, potential rivals!

I hesitate to suggest it, but could it be that you unconsciously intimidate the people you meet by the way you express yourself, or the subjects you raise, or by your body language, hence they become reluctant to engage in conversation with you? It's just a thought - and I apologise if it offends you.

Anyway, I am sure you are an utterly delightful person, so it can only be a change of approach that is required - most Americans are not that bad!

1st I would have to assume you are speaking about a particular race of Americans. The main reason is, they want you to look, act, and talk the way they would like for you to. Its hard for them to see you any other way and if you don't do those things they like to make you feel like their is something wrong with you. Even though we are not living in the yest-er years there isn't much that has changed. You just have to keep asking question. Believe me that it will be easier doing that than trying to ask question from the uneducated.

i think peoples social skills have sunk in recent times. some seem to think that its beneath them to engage in conversation they havent instigated. they see it as some kind of invasion of their space! freaks. steer clear of those ones - and they r pretty easy to spot.

Why is it always about you? Maybe they don't feel like socializing with a total stranger.

i think your probably digging to deep into this, America has so many ethnicities in our country that we do know some information about them, they either already know or don't care to ask, its as simple as that
