OK Ben isn't a "fluke" granted he was proably not at the level he was playing at but he will be. He needs some playing time and experience. We have some problems right now and that includes BAD PLAY CALLING. Come on against the Bengals a Pass from the 6 to Heath Miller, gee three guys there to take the INT. Note that Willie Parker could have easily gotten to the endzone in three downs, more likely 1 or 2, the way he was playing. I think Ben needs to finish a game again. The Steelers seem to be ok in the first half, not really great BUT they are getting the job done. Then they fall apart in the second half and in particular in the fourth quarter. So they need to figure out how to get the team playing the fourth quarter. Oh and to all those talking about just Ben what about the D and that we have Troy playing hurt and that they are giving up third and long. If you get the team to third and long you HAVE to finish the job. Espically when you are doing it more then once in the same drive. Ben isn't a shoot-out QB. He isn't going to lead the team to a 42-35 victory very often. Maybe sometime he will pull it off but that just doesn't seem likely. I think they need to do like they did his first year and just cut back the play book. It would be good for the WRs as well. You have Wilson in his second year. You have Holmes in his first year, Nate Washington is basically in his first year(yeah was in for teh playoffs last year but that was about it) and Ward is about the only really experienced with them wide out and he has a lingering hamsting injury.

Granted Ben isnt playing great, but there is a lot more to why they are losing than that. Dropped passes, fumbles, offensive line problems, special teams. Putting it all on Ben is ridiculous, as is people saying to start Batch. The only way to get him through his "slump" is to play him.
As far as getting a replacement for Bettis, I dont think you will find another Bettis, but Najeh Davenport could be the guy to fill that spot. He is a big back and powerful runner. If anyone saw him last week when he stiffarmed that dude..it was more like a choke slam. Steelers will be ok, if we lose this weekend then we can hit the panic button. They have put on winning streaks before and it can happen again.

I hope so and I am fairly confident that they can. People need to stop looking at Ben, though. He can do enough to be a Steelers QB, but he can not be asked to do everything. There are other problems, mainly the O-line. Everything starts with these guys, the run and the pass game. Loosing the Bus hurts, but more from a moral stand-point and not as a player. He was the leader on the sideline, somebody has to fill that spot.

Don't give up, yet. What am I saying...NEVER GIVE UP!

No, the Steelers are in the Superbowl slump. You know how the team that loses always has a bad year the next year? Well the Steelers should have lost based on their play in the Superbowl, so they have the slump.

Go hawks.

just in enough time to miss the playoffs there are to many good teams in the afc this year. the only way they make the playoffs this year is if they take the north. the wildcard will proably come from the south and the west

no because Big Ben came off his super bowl fluke. He will never go to a super bowl again. The steelers will not be in Miami for the superbowl. We already have enough snowbirds down here.

I doubt it.. Roethlisberger is probably going to get released at the end of the year.. The Steelers are playing bad so they can have a shot at Brady Quinn for this year's draft

Hopefully.

Ben is definitely not playing like he did last year, but neither is anyone else. They look like somebody put a gun to their heads and told them to play a football game...they don't look like they're enjoying themselves or clicking with each other like they did last year.

It was rough losing Bettis, but that shouldn't have made everybody fall apart like this.

Ben is having a rough year. He needs to get his arm back healthy. Also what the hell is happening to Duce Staley? They need a strong shord yardage running back like the Bus

Karma. They were doomed the minute Big Ben and his buddies "won" last years superbowl.
