Dogs stiff so they can get information regarding each other - it's in there genes.
Most animals depend on their sence of smell to identify everything - even you.

Cats clean each other because it reminds them of being cleaned by their mom as a kitten. This is a special bond between mother and the litter.

It's like us smelling baked goods and being reminded of grandmas house (example)

Try petting your cat like a mother would clean a kitten, my cat just purrs like crazy and it's made a super bond between us.

I do the same with my greyhound, since they similiar to cats in that way and I get the same response as I do with my cat.

Humping your leg is a dominance issue. Saying I'm in charge

Cats licking - I like you
