If you have even the vaguest notion of a subject area, you might want to consider an MRes, Master of Research degree.

No. You major in whatever discipline you want to do research in. Then you go to grad school, since you usually can't get a research job without at least a masters degree.

I have never heard of "Researchology" but I think you just mean scientist. But I'm not sure, this is the world of science we're talking about...It's constantly changing, so you may be right... Good luck!
