There is a HUGE apocalyptic movement right now. Loads of films about the end of civilsation or terrorism-- Right outside your door, Children of men etc. All depressing movies.
Actually movie makers are running out of ideas and are hitting the book shelves for ideas.
If patterns follow the books that are out there, there will be a massive flux of fairy stories. Seriously if you could see what trash passes for kids books these days, they are all either about fairies or princesses.

Real events, IE. 9/11, Munich, etc. Will be seeing more films about tragic events in history. Well, just about every movie subject has been done to death. Yet, movies tickets still get sold.
