How many kids would be alive today if they had the protection that is needed. Not all teachers probably have the capacity to do this but wouldn't some help ???

I think if the teacher is highly trained. Perhaps ex-military or has been through police officer training.

See where liberalism has brought us, in the 60's it was all about drugs and free love.
Now the drugs are in the schools, teen pregnancy is up, std's and aids are up, depression and violence is up, family values are down.

You have teachers, who have come through the tremendous liberal universities and institutions, sleeping with middle school students and the nliberal judges let them off with house arrest because they are women.

We are sending the kids mixed messages on all fronts and when you do that you end up warping the kids.

Perhaps a return to the values of the 50's is what is needed.

I will say that the advances made in the areas of racism and women's rights have been mostly good. But that is about the extent of the value of the liberal agenda of the past 40 years.

Some schools have an armed officer patrolling the halls. Would doubling that number help? Would making certain all schools had an armed officer help? Would Columbine have been prevented if an armed officer was present (I really don't know if there was one or not)?

If there are more armed officers, there's an increased chance that a student will somehow take that gun and cause violence, just as arming teachers or principals will also increase that chance. But is that a fair trade off? It's impossible to know how much violence is prevented by the presence of armed officers/teachers/principals.

Would stun guns be as effective a deterrant? I don't think so. What about a security office in each school with monitors for every classroom and hallway, and once a guard sees a gunman on one of his screens he could send some knock-out gas to that section of the building, safely putting everyone in the area to sleep (including the gunman/gunmen)?

not for use on our children - but in the case of an emergency where an outsider has come into the school for the purpose of hurting some-one - all teachers should have some protection - they may never get the chance to use it - but if they did and saved one life it would be well worth it

I thought about this also. How many times would a teacher lose control and stun a kid for acting up?

Oh yeah that's the solution to increasing violence, give tools of violence to everyone! (heavy sarcasm)

What's next kindergarten teachers with numchuks?

Should we solve the drug problem by hiring drug addicts as teachers?

Come on people! Wake up!
