You know having a child and raising that child is something that takes a lot out of you so the fact that you feel depressed is compltely normal. You need to try to get some time to take care of just your self so you can get better for you child. There are medications out there that do help but I have actually found that going to the gym 3 times a week and working out for like an hour helps a lot. I used to have major depression but never liked the idea of going on meds started going to the gym with a friend and man did that make a difference I am not so depressed anymore and can actually be the mother to my kids that they need.

yes, exercise does help but.....you need to be able to get off the couch and leave the house to do it. this is difficult & often impossible for those who are clinically depressed.

I went through a major depression after a life altering event (you had a baby) it lasted 2.5 years before i went to get help. I gained 40 lbs.

I did lose weight once my medication was at the level i needed it. but i lost the weight through exercise & a healthy diet, (because i finally started to care about myself again) not directly from the medication...does that make sense?

even on meds, if i don't work out for two days in a row i get into a "funk" and have a difficult time getting motivated again.

it is also important to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day (even on weekends) and try to avoid excessive alcohol.

this is only my opinion based on my personal experience. everyone is unique.

you really need to seek professional medical advice.
prozac does wonders.
you are doing your 4 year old an injustice because you can't connect to him in the current state of depression..it may be hard but for the childs sake seek help

it all goes hand and hand..
perhaps you and your kid can go run around the park for awhile.. :)
you can rake some leaves for them to jump in :)
just try and keep active during the day..
then you'll start to feel better and you'll be to busy to sleep :)
