Hi,
I already have a 9-5 day job and am thinking of doing an MBA in my own time by studying from home. Does anyone know which Universities would let me do this and not charge a fortune...i would find it difficult to pay a huge amount for this and i am also unable to travel during the week for lectures/courses. Any help or advice would be appreciated...especially from people who may have done this themselves....Kind Regards

The Liverpool U degree is very, very expensive. It's well respected, though, so it's a realistic option.

An MBA, even more than most other degrees, is usually one that people get in order to advance their careers. Consider your options carefully, keeping the reputation of the program in mind. In general, it's better to attend an online program that's tied to a reputable brick and mortar university (so...not U Phoenix. Not Kaplan.)

Good schools that offer distance MBAs include:

Duke University
Babson University
UMass Amherst
U Maryland
Drexel
Carnegie Mellon
Penn State
Ball State
U Nebraska - Lincoln
Thunderbird (really intriguing program)
Babson
Worcester Polytechnic Institute

A highly respected business school - one of the top in the US - which does offer distance MBAs is Duke University.

Thunderbird's program is also fairly highly ranked, has a good rep, and is intriguing. Likewise look at Babson.

The UMass program seems quite flexible.

Of course, expense is a factor in all of these. Your best option is to first start with your own state's university system. If your state university offers an online MBA, your tuition will be much lower than looking at any of the above programs.

Good luck.

Open University - you can study at your own pace, at what time you like. They also let you spread the cost over the year.
