The Irish IRA group was never been labeled as a "Christian Terrorist" Organization because of the following reasons:
1. Ireland IRA purpose was not to destroy, hurt or defy Israel.
2. Unlike Hezbollah, IRA members were 100% Christians, which drew some sympathizers as the USA that funded and backed up the IRA organization itself.
3. IRA organization had never paused any threat to Israel.
4. IRA Organization had never formed an obstacle for USA interests in the Middle East.
5. Labeling Hezbollah as a terrorist organization is a justification for Israel and the USA to weed out some of the bleeding thorns in the Mideast.
6. Calling Hezbollah and others as "Muslim Terrorists" is a justification for USA action to continue its so-called "War On Terror" to achieve its Evil Agenda in the Mideast.
Oh, believe it or not, I am an American Christian who understands and tells the truth always.

Because their main motivation is political not religious read the biography of Michael Collins who was the most famous leader of the IRA. The IRA wanted Ireland to be an independent country many members spoke Gaelic fluently and impressed in their youth a fierce pride of all things Irish even to a rejection of the Anglican Church in favor of the Catholic Church although they kept their goals political after all the Republic of Ireland is madeup of Catholics, Presbyterians and other protestants.
The problem with Islamic Terrorists is that religion and politics are NOT seperate issues and to be a member you must be a Muslim. The IRA was actually more of a guerilla movement as they attacked only military and intellegence groups again read the biography of Michael Collins or if you don't have the time watch the film and the short Wikipedia bio.

Simply because they don't use religion to justify their violence. Their religion is circumstantial to their National socialism. Yes the IRA is Nazi in character and in fact directly supported the German war effort in the 1940's. Hezbollah is an Islamist terrorist organization.
The IRA has been fighting AGAINST self determination in Northern Ireland with guns and bombs and they are a threat to progressives in the Republic of Ireland too. Sinn Fein/IRA is a mafia organization with a far left agenda to take Ireland back to the dark ages.

Well, they have been fairly silent for the past decade, so nobody talks about them much anymore. But whent they were active, they were clearly labeled as Catholic terrorists. Everybody knew they were Catholic. Everybody discussed how asinine it was that Catholics were blowing up Protestants and vice-versa.
But the main source of their conflict was internally related to government. The IRA weren't blowing up Jews, Hindus, and Muslims who didn't believe in their worldview of religion. They were attacking Protestants who were loyal to Great Britain over Ireland.

Actuall at one time they were considered terrorists. They were always more political terrorists than religious ones. Just a few days ago the commission in Ireland certified that the IRA has fully diarmed and agreed that they no longer are pursuing their goals through violence. English and Irish leader (Catholic and Protestant) are meeting in Scotland as we speak and they appear to feel quite hopeful.

They are (were) considered a "terrorist" organization and they are considered "christian" but their cause is about control of N. Ireland and not about (not directly , anyway) promoting catholicism. Hezbollah, is actually quite similar in this regard but they have taken their fight out of the geographical Palestinian area and have become grouped with other organizations who actually have a one-world-Muslim-govenrment goal as an objective. Certainly an oversimplification.

The IRA is a terrorist group in that they intentionally target civilians to achieve political ends. However, unlike Hamas, Hezbollah, and al-Queda, they do not attempt to maximize civilian casualties, nor is their goal to wipe another country off the map.

Because their policy/platfrom is not really based on religion, rather the right for Ireland to rule itself and choose whatever policies, laws, and religious scheme they want to. Comparing them to Hezbollah is ridiculous.
