Anyone else think Barbara S. is an idiot? Why can't celebreties simply do what they do best and entertain, who gives a crap what they think about politically. Free speech is great, but when you have a captive audience who is there to hear you sing, taking advantage of that to further your personal agenda is a cheap shot.

What? You don't like being told how to be a conservationist by someone who has her personal RV follow her limo to restaurants so she doesn't have to use their bathroom?

I don't say this to be critical of Americans, but I've noticed over the years that Americans have a tendency to confuse "celebrity" with "authority." It's the mentality that says, "I'm famous; and therefore, I know what I'm talking about."
Some years back, when the American Congress was holding hearings on healthcare, the committee called as a witness, the actor Mike Farrel who was playing the doctor B.J. Hunnicut on MASH. Why? Because he plays a doctor, thereofre he must know about medicine. You're right -- I don't get it either.
Fame does not equal insight. But for some reason, Americans can have a hard time distinguishing the two. It's a mystery...

So what do you think about the celebrity Charlton Heston's opinions on politics?
Did I understand your question?
Was this your question or not?
"Anyone else think Barbara S. is an idiot?" I guess it only applies when you disagree huh? Typical double standard...

I believe B.S. believes she is truly doing a service to people by making fun of our President and that she believes that she is entertaining them at the same time she's informing them. But once an opposing opinion is presented to her... well then how DARE such a thing happen?!? Doesn't this person realize just how evil Bush is and that he must be stopped? F*** You, Mister I-Can-Think-For-Myself, we don't want your kind here!
Yes, B.S. is an idiot, but she's surrounded by like-minded idiots. They're well-intentioned, though, I have to give them that. They want to change hearts and minds, they want peace, love and free drugs (not medications) for everyone, and they want the nation to not judge their behavior. Understandable. But they want policy made based on emotions and feelings, not on critical thought and reality.
The entertainment industry is all about making money by manipulating emotions... Culturally speaking that industry is our teenagers, who as any parent knows thinks they know everything. They produce very little but want a lot of attention and an allowance for what little contributions they do make.

She is an American...Fortunately, that gives her the right to say whatever she likes, whether or not she is famous, and whether or not you agree with her. The beauty of Democracy, which George W. Bush is trying so fervently and desperately to forcibly spread (oxymoron..or just moron?)...is that we are all able to express our opinions whether you or anybody else agrees or not...AND whether it is for furthering an agenda or not, is a moot point.

I agree. If the setting was different then it would have been fine in my book.
I have a problem with you! Why in the Hell would you use the words Streisand and entertain in the same paragraph. LOL

well if you don't like her don't go to her concerts. Celebrities aren't puppets, they are people who think, breathe and have opnions too. What you could be asking is why do we live in a celebrity driven society?

I am sick of left wing celebrities using their status to voice blinded political statements.
They should just do their childish jobs and shut the hell up instead of trying to give this country over to terrorists.
