Having served in Korea, on the DMZ, I can tell you the penninsula of Korea is a dangerous and troubling part of the world. North Korea's geographic position, between China and South Korea, is politically dangerous when considering surgical strikes, or quick-reaction force.

Reigniting a war could bring in Russia and China, who both have interests in the area. The geographic layout of North Korea is very mountainous and difficult for infantry/armor operations - particularly in winter.

Such a war might not only bring in the nuclear factor, which would affect us all, but wars create refugees who would, in all likelyhood, flood the South and weaken, if not destroy the rich economy they enjoy. Nuclear warfare not only destroys lives short-term and long-term, but affects weather, agriculture, sea life, and computers.

I agree with you, Kim Jong-Il and his general staff need to be silenced. That, too, is difficult to do, since they are very secretive in their movements and public appearances. Hopefully, one day, soon, the North Korean people will be able to rise up and depose him, but until then, we have to keep him and his bullies cornered and watched.

You still don't get it do you? China is in the way, and China's population alone, and now with you Neocons supplying China with Western resources and technology to industrialize. China and North Korea are both Asian Communist Nations. White Republicans aren't their favorite people on the planet. Bush owes China trillions of dollars with our deficit by borrowing funds from them with an unfair trade exchange that is destroying the American dollar. All of the Capitalist are using Communist labor over American labor, that America can't compete with. Greed of the right to cut wages and the bottom line with outsourcing has caused this problem. China has five times our population, and now our resources because Neocons sold out America to Communists. Good job!!!

We're leary because of the Iraq situation. You know what the Shia in the south of Iraq had the same life as the North Koreans. Tried to install a stable government there too. Turning out really well so far.

Don't worry, they have crossed the nuclear line,, now they want to play with the superpowers,,, trouble is they are a small little piss-ant country with nothing to back up their threats.

The U.S. invaded Iraq and Afghanistan for far less.

People underestimate the mass and scope of the us military forces, our army was designed to combat the soviet union at it's height of power,,, trust me we still have plenty of troops, $, and equipment to take out north Korea.

actually... and i am sorry to destroy your dreams here, honey...

they are NOT afraid... they simply dont care... because north korea has no oil.

and while i would generally agree with your plead... i am afraid, that your government as a whole and your president in particular has absolutely no use for values like freedom, humanitarianism, or anything that is decent.
sorry, girl.

Sometimes it is best to wait. We are too spread out in the Middle East to start problems in another country.

I'm not afraid of butting in. But we have not exhausted all diplomatic channels yet. Contrary to what you read in the press, that is our policy.
