I did my own divorce -went online and for about £50 was able to download all the appropriate documentation. As long as you are amicable then it's easy to do and perfectly legal. In the pack is some guidance on financial matters. This is the most important factor as you don't want your ex coming back to you in a few years time stating you owe money or took something that wasn't yours. If you think you can agree then go for it - it's cheaper, simpler and was very quick for me as I didn't have to wait around for a solicitor.

Depending on How Complicated or Acrimonious things are the base price Start at Around 2,000 UK Pounds up to Stupid Money if there are Unresolved Property,Pre-Nups,Child Support,Business acumen!

Can be a Real Money-Pit of waste if you cant sort things out amicably between the parties!!

The lawyers win Every Time!!

You can do it all yourself but even though the solicitors are costs are extortionate I would suggest you consult one as divorce is a legal minefield. What I would suggest to you though is that you make the solicitor aware from the onset that you have already agreed with your partner about the financial side of things and even if she or he tries to make you go for more than half don't be tempted to do it as that is when things get out of hand, drag on and on and the only winner from then on in are the solicitors and their money is obviously better in your pocket than theirs. It cost me about £2,000.00p recently to get divorced but we agreed the financial side of things between ourselves in an amicable way. Had we not you could have possibly reconed on a £20,000.00p bill.

Yes you can agree top do it all without solicitors....... this will still cost £250 for the 2 court sittings to declare you divorced, but you can split it 50-50 if you want to

It cost me approximately £300.00, but that was a non-contested divorce with no solicitors involved. If solicitors are involved it can costs a vast amount more and take a very long time
