because american football is played 10 seconds at a time. after that you rest for 30 seconds, whoo takes alot of stamina. Soccer, i say that so no one confuses the two, is a game thats played45 minutes at a time, there are 3 substitutions a game, and you dont stop. People think it sucks because there are games that end 1-0, so what, that increases the anticipation and suspense throughout the game. The teams are so skilled that it is hard to score. Besides, even the name makes sense, football, you play soccer with only your feet, hence the name. only the kicker uses his feet in american football.

Any likes and dislikes have to be learned. Following different sports is no different than eating different foods. Just don't generalize too much. There are passionate football fans around the world just as there are passionate soccer fans in the US. In each case they simply happen to be outnumbered.

Actually, there is a large following in parts of the world. Places like Sweden, and Germany. I think with the infusion of NFL-Europe, other countries are able to get involved in rooting for teams.
There are a lot of rules which make it difficult to follow if you don't know. I loved watching Australian Rules Football, but found it too hard to learn without being able to ask questions.
Probably the same reason we don't watch things like Cricket. Seems pretty popular in other former colonies.
Many other countries televise the Superbowl. I dunno.

I guess it's what ever you're used to. They don't understand the game. Just like I don't understand rugby or aussie football, so those games don't appeal to me.

It is a very complicated game to watch as opposed to soccer. Soccer this is only one way to score. In Football (American) they are so many different ways to score points. Also they are many different types of positions. The game is much more violent in some ways, and a slower pace to others. In the USA the game is a part of our culture, so kids are more likely to learn the game as opposed to the rest of the world.

Because they don't understand it. We don't appreciate soccer for the same reason. And ignorant people, on both sides, call the other boring.
