I have odd periods, to say the least. I will go about 2 months without having one, then I will have a period that will last about a week. Well I lost a baby about 2 weeks ago, I was 8 months pregnant. So I hadn't had a period in about 3 months. Well I got my period about 2 weeks ago, I really did do anything the first few days, but since then, for the last week, I've been bleeding heavily off and on. Will it be heavier because I was pregnant and it had been so long since the last one or should I really be worried about this. I figured if I hadn't stopped in a few days I would go to the doctor, but just would like to know in the mean time.

well ive been prego 4 times, 2 live births and every time after each pregnancy i bled for about 4-6 weeks. whether it was a liv e birth or a miscarriage. I t is normal to bleed like that. Your doctor should have explained that to you. you will bleed on and off for about 4-5 weeks then by that time your body will get back to normal and usually start a normal cycle right after. Good luck and God Bless. I know it can be a very hard thing to except, but i always told myself that it happens for a reason. I know it doesnt seem fair, but you will have very many more chances. I now have 2 beautiful girls, 8 and 2 and cant wait for more. So hang in there.

If you lost your baby 2 weeks ago, then it's your uterus getting rid of all the lining you no longer need. Technically it wasn't your period because you didn't ovulate and shed the un-fertilized egg.
That won't happen for at least another month - or whenever if your irregular. Miscarriages are often characterized by very heavy constant bleeding for about 2 weeks. At 8 months pregnant, I would assume that your uterus was heavily lined and padded with blood for cushioning the baby. It should start letting up in the next week or so and you should go see the doctor at that time, or when he has said you should come in.

hang on let me see if i can figure this out
you said you were 8 months pregnant
but you meant 8 weeks right?
anyways ive always had a crazy menstrual cycle like you described only mine would be so light that in not even 2 days time, id be done with it
however
after i had my son, the first 2 or 3 times i had a period, it was very heavy almost scary
if it persisted for more than 2 or 3 weeks id go to the dr because if it hasnt stopped by then, something will need to be done

You lost a baby 2 weeks ago and had a period 2 weeks ago? After you have a baby you will bleed for about a week, thats normal, but it's not a period.

I would recommend calling the dr. if you lost the baby at 8 months and that was not very long ago I am sure you are experienceing normal bleeding associated with that. But I would recommend calling the dr just to be sure.

I would also schedule an appointment to discuss your irregular periods and when would be an appropriate time for you to go on birth control or start trying to get pregnant.

Good Luck

I'm confused... you were 8 months pregnant but had a period three months ago? So you had your period while you were pregnant? You say you lost the baby 2 weeks ago and had a period 2 weeks ago. Did you lose the baby and then commense bleeding?

I think you should be seeing a OB/GYN. Were you seeing one during your pregnancy?

If you just lost a baby 2 weeks ago, you should be keeping in touch with your Dr. on a regular basis about anything to do with your body.
