Yes its true. When you produce breast milk you do not produce very much estrogen, which is whats needed to make you ovulate and become and STAY pregnant. Estrogen stops milk production (thats why new mom who breast feed cannot take birthcontrol, it stops milk production), so going on a synthetic hormone treatment, such as birth control, will stop milk production and cause your body to cycle again.

I seriously doubt that if you have breast milk it is stopping you from getting pregnant, my niece had three babies almost 9 months apart and she was breast feeding all of them. There can be many reasons why you haven't conceived and only a doctor can tell you why. Go and see a different doctor and ask for a second opinion.

its very possible to conceive when lactating, my doctor told me about the breast milk stuff too,iam yet to conceive, but a close friend of mine put to bed six months ago after trying for three years and she was also lactating while she took in.i dont know about the birth control pills, but i was on some drugs to help stop the breast milk, but the drug had some adverse effects on me. i suggest you see another doctor before going on the birth control pills. good luck.

Take Aspirin twice daily until the milk disappears, it worked in about 4 days, I had to do it to stop mine after the child was born because I was not breast feeding.

well i know that breast feeding does act as some sort of birth control but not alwys effective....if you just just had a miscarriage recently allow your body a couple of months to heal...and birth control shouldn't realy help you to get pregnant or to help the milk go away

well let me tell you that if i have breast milk it would be a miracle of nature. and as i have never been pregnant either, i can tell you for certain that the reason i can not conceive is because im a guy.
