Honey, a "bedsore" is medically called a decubitus and it is caused by any protruding bone pressing on the skin for a long period of time, usually sitting or lying down. It starts as a reddness to the skin and can go as deep as the bone itself. It also cuts off the circulation in the area making the flesh die.

I don't think you're thinking about the same thing. Decubitus ulcers don't "burst and bleed".

Bed sores are not like blisters, they do not burst. They tend not to bleed too much, just small amounts and no, nothing like a period. They are more like holes in the skin. They are caused by too much pressure on a small area and they can be hard to get to heal. If you have some, get medical advice. You say you are disabled, perhaps put aside times in the day when you can get off your bum and lay on a bed. Take the pressure off the area. Use sheepsin to sit on, try and keep the area clean and dry, perhaps a rubber ring will help (depending on where the sore is). Your health professional will be able to tell you what is available.

That may be the strangest question--at least so far today.

Like your period? What do bedsores have to do with a menstrual period------nothing. Bedsores come from people who are unable to move or get out of bed for a long time. They get pressure sores and yes, they DO burst and get all over. Then they can get infected. Then they can turn gangrenous and cause amputations and death.
