First off, they are starving. The military are the only ones fed. If anyone else is even remotely suspected of being a traitor or saying something negative about the dictator, he is tortured and killed, his entire family is put into a work camp and is forced to labor and is tortured. Women are raped by the soldiers and even children are beaten and tortured.
There is no talking to this government. This dictator told farmers to stop growing crops to feed the people and instead they are ordered to grow poppy for heroin and opium production.
They are a gangster government.
We have to pressure China somehow to not help NKorea but to make war on them and snuff out this very evil horrifying government.
NKorea has threatened a war on us.--assumingly a nuclear attack..
I suggest we take it seriously.

When exactly did they say that they wanted to take over the government?

You are fairly naive. First of all, China is more concerned with controlling it's border with NK, and stopping any mass immigration by fleeing starving Koreans, than anything else. They will do whatever is necessary to keep the status quo, which is to control the communist dictatorship. A free reunified Korea is not in their interest.
NK has no ability to wage a war with the US or anyone else. They can not feed their soldiers, much less fuel trucks to invade Soth Korea. They have no reliable way to deliver missiles to the US, and no warheads. Even if they did, US military might would annihilate NK within hours.
NK wants money. They think (erroneously) that the only way they can get it is to threaten both the US, and the regional stability.
Wont work.

If Bush had not addressed them as part of the Axis of Evil they might have not become so hostile. Iran is somewhat different for as much as they hate Iraq they don't want it occupied by Non Muslims. N Korea cannot take over but the can cause damage to Japan or other Nations. They can also do a lot of damage to our endangered envioment. For years this country was concerned that the Communists would take over . They couldn't even feed their own people.

It is the same in the Congo. I do take it seriously, don't assume things in your questions you might offend someone, because then you make an *** out of you and me,..get it (***- u- me). Anyways In the meantime to help you could go work for D.C. I am working on the UNHCR, United nations high commissioner for refugees. Just breath and relax we will get it done.Remember Mother Teresa?, she never went to a anti-war only peace rallies because she believed that way the energy in the universe would be in her favour and not bring negativity.

North Korea is just a horrible place to be and sanctions are just inhumane. Still, you misunderstand who the people are. The people are the military. KJI cannot control the country without the military. I hope that good men will come forward in the military. It's the only thing that can save them. Of course, they are apparently thugs as well. Sad.

They haven't got a nuke that can reach here yet. The best they could do toward us as far as a nuclear attack is to bomb a base in Japan. China is already talking about dealing with North Korea and their nuke testing.

1. Any govt can defend itself and for that they can produce weapons. No-one country is having sole-proprietorship for Weapons of Mass Destruction. If non-proliferation is to have real meaning, then no country in the world should possess such weapons.
2. No country has a right to question another country for weapons, as it stockpiles such weapons.
3. Universal body should be constituted consisting of members from non-aligned countries, western powers and soviet bloc as a watch dog to check countries not to possess weapons and nuclear energy is used for constructive purposes.

Funny, but that's kind of what everyone was saying about Iraq about two years before the war.
