If anyone knows about what has been going on in NKorea in previous decades, you should know that there is no talking to the totalitarian, brutal dictator. He systematically starves off his people and small children roam the streets starving while soldiers ignore them, there is even rumors of cannibalism. He ordered the farmers to stop growing crops in favor of poppy for heroin, anyone who is not in the army is starved to death. The army and government are the only ones fed with relief food shipped which was meant for the poor starving people of his country.
The soldiers sell the relief food in the market to only those who have money while small children sit looking on starved and everyone ignores them. There is a very good hidden camara documentary on this, if they caught this former NKorean who filmed it, they would have him tortured and killed. China sends back desperate NK refugees to NKorea knowing they will be tortured and killed, and if she's pregnant....

If someone is thought to be a traitor, or against the government, they put his entire family in a work camp where they starve them and make them labor, they even torture children.

N. Korea has done this for years. America has done nothing but send relief and embargo for years. Nothing has changed. There is also several other countries in similar positions. The only thing we can do is remove the leadership by force. how do you propose to do that?

Force is an option, but lets look at the reality of the whole situation. N. Korea has more than 1000 artillery pieces trained on Seoul S. Korea. more pieces on a variety of other targets. They are capable of firing more than 2500 rounds of artillery every minute into seoul, sustained for 19+ minutes. Seoul just dissapeard before we could even fly a single jet from a carrier to the center of N. Korea.

There is a lot at stake with this lunatic and unfortunately talking is all we can do for now.

What I am trying to figure out is how people are relating this to Bushes fault...wierd...hate is such a crippling motivator to a Country. People need to start dealing and drive on instead of lingering over hate...

Some might say that he is determined to do what he feels he should do. The fact that the rest of the population has to live in squaller conditions reminds me of the homeless and those living in substandard conditions in both Canada and the United States, Rio de Janero and perhaps 600 other places around the world. While the USA and Russia put men into space, people in Los Angeles live on the street and thousands of kids go to bed everynight across America in poor housing and on an empty stomach. The victims of Katrina are still cleaning up from that storm and yet the USA has money to waste on a war in Iraq and Afghanistan. You tell me who is the psychopath and who is the President really caring for? If the people of North Korea are starving to death then in about one months time there will be no people alive there according to your statistics than those in the military and the government. What source of information gives out these stats the same ones that said Saddam had weapons of mass destruction? And by the way Jane, according to your own information, you yourself say that you are " as crazy as a loon " so who should be calling whom a psychopath?

It is amazing how many world leaders are evil and terrorist and diplomacy is impossible we should just rid the world of all these evils no need in diplomacy. How many World leaders must we kill? How many wars must we fight? Diplomacy doesn't work or is that G. Dub is not a diplomat. There are many dictators in the world what shall we say then shall we attack them all? We've ousted Saddam.. And that seems to be working splendidly they are currently officiating a civil war in Iraq that according to Republicans has no end in sight. Hard to move on to cleaning up the rest of the world when we can never leave Iraq. If diplomacy isn't the answer what is your proposal? Should we take over the world so your beloved Bush can rule in what you no doubt think is a fair and wonderful governing job. let's deal with reality yes there are terrorist and evil people int he world and things are not perfect here either diplomacy is the way to make changes if they are possible at all.

You must have been there. On the other hand people who know about negotiating say that going for a win win situation is the best strategy. Because it easier to get an agreement and after that people will stick to the agreement, because they stand to win by it.
The Bush administration does not ever go for a win win situation. They create a sort of Pax Americana that will not be accepted by the world. Ultimately that will be the undoing of the US.
It is beginning already now that your budget deficit is on an all time high and your economy is slowing down.

Problem is that Kim Jong Ill and North Korea are not one and the same. He's had a reign of error over the country, and the people there suffered more than their share. But what are you going to do? Attack on North Korea? Kill thousands of innocent people who don't deserve to die?
He's a psychopath, but the people of North Korea don't deserve to go through any more sufferings.

Perhaps we'll stop talking when they follow through on yesterday's threat to lob a nuke our way. Which city will be the sacrificial lamb? SF? LA? SD? You might want to say your goodbyes to friends and family in those cities just in case.

Regardless, the second city to be vaporized will be Pyongyang. Welcome to the age of unchecked nuclear proliferation.

Which cities will Tehran take out first? Any bets?

Republicans have know this for years, but the Democrats keep sending him money for his people, of which he diverts to his military. Look at what Bill Clinton sent for appeasement.

For once, I really agree with you.

Many of us have said this for years... you cannot negotiate with, or try to appease a psycho dictator like this. They only understand one thing, their own annihilation.
