This morning I got an email from my Mom, yesterday was her Birthday and I forgot!!!!!!!! I came to America from South Africa, she's still there. On my birthday she got up at two in the morning to call me when it was six here. I've never felt this bad in my entire life. I can't stop crying, when I called her just now I had to hang up so I wouldn't cry. I don't want to upset her because I'm upset. She's already worried about me, cause she's a mom and so far away. I looked online for a "Belated Mom Bday eCard" and couldn't even find one, it just shows I'm probably the only one that ever forgot her monther's Birthday. I called her again and said Happy Birthday but I still feel real bad about it and can't stop thinking about it. I actually hate myself right now. I'm not going to blame a busy day on me forgotting. I don't know what to do to make it up to her, she obviously understands because she's my mom. I can't forgive myself. Any ideas what I can do for her so far away?

To err is human and yes this is a big one, but if you don't forgive yourself, you can't move past it. I'm sure it freaked her out, but not as badly as it has freaked you out. All you can do is send a sincere letter/email telling her the truth, you honestly forgot and you feel lower than low. Let her know you love her more than anything and couldn't be sorrier because she is truly the greatest mom ever! You just have to be a big girl and tell the truth and give a sincere apology and move on. DONT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN! My mom forgot my birthday once and it hurt at first but when I realized how badly it hurt her and how much she really did love me, I now live happily, trauma free and NO hard feelings whatsoever. Things like this happen more often than you might think even though they really suck so just face it head on, tell the truth and apologize. Moms are good at bouncing back. Don't try to make lame excuses so you can hide your guilt or shame, feel it and move on. It will be ok, trust me:)

The question is somewhat ambiguous, worst by using what/whose standards? The worst individual in Europe could be Stalin or Hitler whether in Cambodia Pol Pot could be acknowledged as maximum evil. Atilla the Hun is usually acknowledged by using scholars as maximum evil as he slayed hundreds and committed notably merciless acts whether the before pronounced dictators could be acknowledged as extra merciless as they lived by using the standards of a extra present day and 'civilized international'

Get a hold of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geez, yea, its bad that you forgot but its not the end of the world. Try send her something or a really nice email or a phone call. I'm pretty sure she'll understand you just forgot. She wont hate you for it. Geez, its nothing to cry about or go hating yourself.

People forget birthdays all the time, you no longer around her so its normal that you'd forget, especially if you have no one around to remind you.

Now breathe, call her or write to her and get on with your life! There are worst things that can happen.

Oh goodness hon quit beating yourself up on this. Ok so you made a mistake but you will probably never do it again so live and learn. Send Mom a nice gift with a note and maybe some pictures of you. Explain how bad you felt and all will be good. She's your Mom she loves you no matter what.

Get her a gift and send it to her. Try not to worry about it. She is your mother... and that means unconditional love. Your mom sounds like a nice and understanding woman. You are not the worst person ever... you didn't kill anyone... you didn't break up a marriage... Forgetting people's birthdays happens to a lot of people. Don't be so hard on yourself. Cheer up and buy her a nice gift with a sweet letter attached telling her how much she means to you. Take care.

Yes you are the only one, I am sure she will be hurt and despise you forever. You are a slefish and self centred individual and I hope that it stays with you for life the way you broke that womans heart. I bet she counts the days till she has departed this earth and rues giving birth to an ingrate like you.......God Bless You
